Unified Streaming accelerates and simplifies Remix with Artesyn’s SharpStreamer technology

Unified Streaming, a leading provider of cross-platform video-streaming technologies and Artesyn Embedded Technologies, a global leader in high performance computing solutions, today announced a solution to simplify and accelerate the deployment of the innovative Unified Remix media workload playlist software engine.

In tests, transcoding speed has increased by a factor of between five and twenty, depending on the workload, thanks to the Artesyn SharpStreamer™ add-in PCIe cards.

Also, for the first time with Unified Remix software, a single card can run multiple concurrent workloads in hardware, and the software performance scales linearly with the addition of more cards in an Artesyn MaxCore™ platform or standard server.

A result of close collaboration between the two companies, Unified Remix and Artesyn hardware integrated solution stitches together content upstream from the Unified Origin server or a CDN, reducing lost ad impressions and ensuring the best video experience on all screens. Companies can use local ad repositories or ad networks to integrate bumpers, pre-mid rolls or other ads with VOD clips and create a seamless personalized stream in all formats, including MPEG-DASH, HLS, HDS, MSS and MP4 for a wide range of consumer devices.

“Unified Remix supports many exciting use-cases, such as virtual subclips (highlights, skip-over), archive-to-VOD, live scheduling or server-side ad insertion,” said Dirk Griffioen, CEO at Unified Streaming. “This collaboration with Artesyn accelerates performance and makes it much simpler for content owners, networks and broadcasters to deploy.”

“The relationship between Artesyn and Unified Streaming enables our joint customers to scale, accelerate and deploy smart video streaming solutions quickly and easily,” said Barry Dolan, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Artesyn Embedded Technologies. “With an exciting showcase at IBC 2017 to demonstrate accelerated transcoding as part of a complete online video solution, we’re excited about the potential of this system.”
